Eye Associates of San Diego is a leading center for comprehensive medical and surgical eye care in eastern San Diego County. Located at Grossmont Medical Center in La Mesa, the board-certified ophthalmologists of Eye Associates specialize in glaucoma treatmentrefractive surgery and cataract surgery as well as general eye care.  A full-service optical store is on site, providing a wide selection of men's and women's eyewear as well as contact lenses.

Founded in 1989, Eye Associates of San Diego has kept up with the newest in vision correction and treatment of eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, corneal disorders and has participated in clinical studies to aid in the development of new treatments.

Meet the Doctors
Learn more about your eye physicians, two of the leading ophthalmologists and ophthalmic surgeons in San Diego. 
Dr. Lawrence Rice has over 30 years experience in the practice of ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. He has performed thousands of delicate eye surgeries including implanting delicate intraocular lenses during cataract surgery. He is an early adopter of the new laser vision surgical techniques having performed PRK, RK, LASIK surgeries for many patients. He participates in clinical research for several pharmaceutical companies. 
Dr. Rice has served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Eye Bank for several years and is has served as president of the organization. He also has previously served as medical consultant for San Diego city schools.

Jeffrey P. Wasserstrom, M.D., a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine has over 30 years of eye care experience. In addition to have performed thousands of refractive procedures including PRK & LASIK as well as 1000s of intricate cataract and intraocular lens implant surgeries, Dr. Wasserstrom is fellowship trained in glaucoma surgery and the latest treatment for glaucoma. He has served on the clinical faculty at the University of California, San Diego for 20 years where he taught resident physicians eye surgery techniques. 

Dr. Wasserstrom has been named one of the top physicians in San Diego according to the San Diego County Medical Society and San Diego Magazine.  He has been on several medical missions to underdeveloped countries in Central and South America and Eastern Europe performing delicate surgeries and teaching new techniques to other eye surgeons. He has been involved in numerous clinical research clinical trials for several pharmaceutical companies for the past 23 years.
